Enhanced deployment of Eurocopter in the Middle East Region
Eurocopter, the world’s leading helicopter manufacturer, has enjoyed steady growth in the Middle East market for the last 40 years. To date, a fleet of around 650 Eurocopter helicopters is in service with military and civil operators throughout the Arabic world.
Eurocopter is fully committed to further strengthen this long-term presence in the region through the commercialisation of equipment packages adapted to the customers’ missions and a reinforced support in their daily operations.
• Presence at IDEX 2007
Eurocopter exhibits three of its successful helicopters during IDEX:
- The EC145, the state-of-the-art law enforcement helicopter, ordered by numerous police forces around the world and recently selected by the US Army.
This twin-engine helicopter, which excels in terms of cabin space and versatility, reduces the pilot’s workload, offers excellent visibility and can be operated for day and night missions.
- The NH90, the NATO medium weight multipurpose helicopter, which entered into service last December and was ordered by 13 nations, including the Sultanate of OMAN. The NH90 carries more troops and more equipment, further and faster than other helicopters of the same weight. It operates from land and sea.
- The EC155 in VIP configuration, ideal to rapidly and comfortably transport Heads of States and VIPs, which has been sold to the UAE.
The EC155 offers outstanding speed and range capabilities. Due to its five-blade main rotor this Eurocopter helicopter is extremely quiet and efficient. It offers a spacious cabin and a low vibration level.
• A strong footprint in the region, well positioning Eurocopter to contribute to the renewal of the military fleet
Eurocopter, which has been widely present in the Gulf region with a complete range of civil and military aircrafts since the 1960’s, is very committed to meet the specific requirements of the governments and their Armed Forces. Many Eurocopter Puma, Cougar, Fennec and Panther helicopters are being successfully operated in the region, positioning Eurocopter as the front runner to equip the Armed Forces, which are currently addressing the renewal of their military helicopter fleet. Eurocopter is proposing its new generation products, equipped with the latest technology, which have proven to perfectly behave in extreme conditions. They are indeed able to perform all their missions in the most severe weather and critical situations.
Eurocopter has significantly increased its military fleet in the region through additional orders of EC635 by the Royal Jordanian Air Force and the signature of an NH90 contract with the Royal Air Force of the Sultanate of Oman.
• An emphasis on the law enforcement missions to ensure the citizen’s security
Police and law enforcement agencies are prime Eurocopter customers in a large number of Middle East countries. The company is a major supplier in this field, having captured a 53% share of the world’s law enforcement and public service market.
In the law enforcement market, the EC135 and EC145 have become an international reference to guarantee the citizens’ security. The EC145 is a robust, reliable workhouse in the law enforcement. The French Gendarmerie uses the EC145 mainly for missions in high altitude and inhospitable environment. The EC145 was lately selected by the London Metropolitan Police Authority and the Lithuanian Border Guard.
• The VIP helicopter meets a strong demand from the gulf countries
In the VIP and executive transport segment, Eurocopter has extensively invested in providing customized helicopters in the ultimate level of comfort, quietness, reliability, availability and safety to the benefit of the transport of Heads of States and other VIPs. Recent sales in this area include: the advanced top-notch VVIP EC225 by Algeria, the EC130 B4, EC135 and EC155 B1 by the United Arab Emirates.
• Eurocopter, a true partner for Middle East customers
Eurocopter has been very active in providing the best support to its numerous customers in the region in their daily operations. Its existing platform in Abu Dhabi allows offering an adapted and operational global service, whatever field of activity is concerned. Eurocopter is working on extending this support, regarding maintenance and spare parts, with the creation of additional platforms to better meet the customer’s requirements.
A Century of Vertical Flight
The first-ever vertical flight was made by Paul Cornu in 1907. Since then, the spirit of conquest, technological progress and innovative ideas have made the helicopter an indispensable vehicle for saving lives, protecting the public and contributing to the economic development of the world. Eurocopter is proud to celebrate this anniversary during 2007 and to share its passion for helicopters.
