Welcome to the new and improved Vertical website!
Since we last redesigned the site over a year ago, the magazine has continued to evolve, and we felt it was time to reflect those changes online — with a site that offers more news, more content, and more of the spectacular helicopter photography that Vertical is famous for. This expanded commitment to our online presence reflects, in part, YOUR expanded commitment to our online presence: over the past year, our website traffic has grown dramatically. With the new site, we hope we can give you even more reasons to check back daily.
One of the new features that I’m particularly excited about is this blog. Because of Vertical’s dedication to reporting from the field, I routinely get to do some pretty cool stuff, and while most of this eventually makes it into the magazine, some of it doesn’t. For example, in the April-May issue, I write about the role of helicopters in earthquake relief efforts in Haiti. What I don’t write about are my own experiences in Haiti: how contributing editor Graham Lavery and I got around, where we stayed, and what it was like embedding on the USS Bataan. Hopefully this blog will be a way to share some of those stories, as well as general observations on safety, operations and the state of the industry.
With the new website, we also want to spread some of the Vertical “culture” we enjoy around the office. We’re extremely passionate about what we do, and we have a LOT of fun doing it. Our interactive blogs, forums and Facebook page are opportunities for you to take part in the Vertical community, and we hope you take advantage of them.
We welcome your feedback. If you have thoughts about the website, the magazine or anything else (well, almost anything else), feel free to email me anytime at elan@verticalmag.com. Meantime, enjoy your visit!
