Job Description

The Assistant Director of Maintenance (ADOM) is responsible for ensuring that maintenance performed by A P Mechanics is accomplished is in accordance with Company Maintenance Policies/Procedure(s) and in accordance with the FAA and Manufacturer’s Airworthiness Standards as prescribed by applicable regulations, directives, and good industry standard practices, for each type of aircraft, power plant, or equipment that this company maintains. The ADOM may be required travel to other bases as necessary. Duties and assignments may overlap depending on the operational needs of the department.

Responsibilities

Provides technical support on a variety of tasks
Assists the Director of Maintenance (DOM) in the development, communication, and implementation of efficient procedures, policies, and effective growth strategies for the department
Establishes and maintains a positive working relationship as liaison between company, clients, and the FAA with responsibility for the companyrsquo;s issued maintenance certificates and signing of correspondence
Ensures that the department is properly staffed, managed, organized, trained, and directed to fulfill its responsibilities according to internal and FAA regulations, including handling personnel issues such as discipline and termination when necessary
Promotes a healthy culture for the department and the team that benefits employee engagement, happiness, customer loyalty, safety, integrity, and overall excellence
Responsible with the DOM for all record keeping and auditing requirements, including maintenance and disposition of those records, and signing of the Operations Specifications
Oversees all inspections, repairs, and component changes and accompanying documentation are accomplished in accordance with the manufacturer or FAA approved procedures, conforming to quality control standards, on schedule, and incompliance with FAA regulations
Oversees and reviews work orders while jobs are in progress monitoring for proper sign offs, supervising and inspecting as required
Responsible for the aircraft, tooling, equipment, materials, inventory, and activities within the hangar(s) and on the adjacent ramp(s) for all department personnel
Assist the DOM with plans and prepares maintenance or repair estimates and determine the scope of work and personnel required
Assist the DOM in maintaining all necessary records and logbooks, including certification in the aircraft permanent maintenance records that the aircraft is approved and returned to service
Acts as one of the primary points of contact with flight crews on maintenance discrepancies related to Part 91 and Part 135 fleet with understanding of MEL and write-up process for each aircraft
Coordinates with the Director of Operations on the timely communication and correction of mechanical repairs, as well as planned inspections or maintenance work on the Part 91 and Part 135 fleet around scheduled flights
Provides the Director of Operations with the current airworthiness status of aircraft under the Part 91 and Part 135 fleet, forecasting downtimes to facilitate maintenance scheduling at optimal times and ensure timely deferral or correction of aircraft discrepancies
Other duties as assigned
